BACKGROUND AND TRAINING

I have always been interested in spirituality and the meanings and purposes people find in their lives. I love listening to people's stories and learning how they find creative ways to deal with life's challenges. These interests led me to become a social worker, spiritual director and Reiki master

I received my master's degree in social work in 1978. I have worked with individuals, families and groups and also as an educator and trainer. I  enjoy working with people as they approach mid-life and their elder years, with survivors of trauma, LGBT individuals and with those who are dealing with grief, loss or chronic or acute illness. I love working with groups, and offer many different kinds of groups, workshops and trainings. 

I am fascinated by spirituality and the spiritual aspects of my work with people. In 2005 I completed my training as a spiritual director at Lev Shomea, a training program for spiritual direction in the Jewish tradition. As a spiritual director, I support you to reflect on the spiritual meanings of your life experiences, and help you deepen your connection to God, your  Higher Power, the Divine, or the Mystery that connects us to all of life. We may also explore your gifts, talents and your  life's purpose or your sense of disconnection from the Divine. My interest in spiritual wholeness and the interconnection of mind, body and soul in healing led me to  Reiki.  I completed my training as a Reiki master in 2005.  The term "reiki" comes from the Japanese words "rei" meaning spirit and "ki" meaning energy or power. Reiki is a form of energy healing. As a Reiki Master I offer hands-on Reiki treatments, which help in stress management and assist the healing process, and Reiki classes to teach you to offer Reiki to yourself and others.
